What first drew you to working with finance and investments?
I would say what initially attracted me was the opportunity to work with international businesses,” he says. “And finance offered a structured way to understand how companies operate, compete, and create value.”
Why Arendals Fossekompani?
I knew the company from my previous role in EY and saw it as an opportunity to work hands-on with investments on an international scale and developing great businesses.
The company is also conveniently located in a nice area of Norway where my wife grew up which made it a good match to make a great life at and outside of work.
In your own words, how would you describe your role as an Investment Manager?
My role is where finance and strategy intersect. My main responsibilities include working as an active owner through my position in the Board of Tekna, evaluating new investment opportunities for Arendals Fossekompani and supporting the leadership team with financial and strategic insights.
What motivates you most in your position?
I really enjoy working more comprehensively with investments over a long period of time. That I can take an idea and develop it, brick by brick, and with ownership over time. That’s motivating.
What are your most important priorities this year?
In addition to contributing to the acceleration of Tekna and supporting the AFK leadership team, I’m working to identify and analyse attractive investment opportunities for Arendals Fossekompani.
What are the ongoing challenges in your role as an Investment Manager?
The difficulty lies in acting in the present while thinking in decades. Maintaining a long-term perspective while navigating short-term uncertainty is a challenge, but it is also the most rewarding part of my work.
Your responsibilities require careful attention to detail. How do you switch off and recharge on your free time?
It’s so important to actively practice patience and reset to maintain perspective and see the bigger picture. I find that running loosens up my thoughts. And when I find the time, I like to pick up the guitar and get into my own zen mode.
What is the best part about working at Arendals Fossekompani?
We’re a small team covering a wide scope and working hands-on together towards the same goals. It’s motivating to work with an international perspective and know that our work creates long-term impact.
