Marcel is State Authorized Auditor (CPA) and State Authorized External Accountant in Norway. He is also qualified as Chartered Accountant in the Netherlands (Register Accountant – RA).
Marcel holds a Master of Science in Accountancy from Nyenrode Business University in the Netherlands, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Hogeschool Alkmaar, also in the Netherlands.
When and why did you start working in Arendals Fossekompani?
October 2021, I joined Arendals Fossekompani, an industrial investment company. In my opinion this is one of the most exciting companies in our region with the opportunity to work with many highly skilled and experienced colleagues in an international environment.
What is the most exciting part of your role as the VP of Group Reporting?
The most exciting part of my role as VP of Group Reporting is providing timely, insightful financial information to support business decisions, ensuring compliance with regulations, and delivering accurate financial data to stakeholders. The variety of tasks and responsibilities within the Finance function keeps me constantly challenged and engaged.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
It is important to obtain all relevant information to identify any transactions and/or events and account for them correctly in the financial reporting. Credibility of financial information is key and requires clear communication as well as sufficient planning, cooperation and execution within our international financial team.
With over 20 years of audit experience and a background in working with international teams, what do you believe is the key factor for success?
I believe that high integrity, knowledge development and good teamwork are essential factors for ensuring performance and maintaining continuous improvement. The right attitude is key for success. This means taking responsibility and being accountable for the actions you undertake. You need to be curious, interested and engaged in your work – never stop learning!
