Pursuing growth opportunities in metal powders

Arendals Fossekompani’s subsidiary Tekna and metal giant Aperam establish joint venture for production of spherical powders.

“We have great expectations to the cooperation with Aperam. The ambition is to secure a large market share in a rapidly growing market for metal powders for additive manufacturing. Tekna powder sales are up 50 per cent in 2019 and the future looks bright,” says Ørjan Svanevik, CEO of Arendals Fossekompani.

On September 19, Aperam and Tekna signed an agreement for the creation of a joint venture to combine Aperam’s expertise in nickel and specialty alloys with Tekna’s unique wire plasma atomization technology, to pursue growth opportunities in nickel and specialty alloy spherical powders for advanced additive manufacturing technologies.

Aperam and Tekna have approved the framework of a global joint venture combining their expertise to create an innovative venturein nickel and specialty alloy spherical powders. This partnership will benefit from the existing know how and the global industrial network of both Aperam and Tekna.

The new company, ImphyTek PowdersTMSAS willbe based in France and market the jointly developed high quality spherical metal powders to meet the growing needs of additive manufacturing and metal injection molding in all industrial segments and therefore serve the most demanding local and global customer specifications.
