Arendals Fossekompani joins UN Global Compact

“We are pleased to be part of the most important global network for a more sustainable future,” says Ingunn Ettestøl, ESG Director at Arendals Fossekompani.

Launched in 2000, UN Global Compact is a non-binding United Nations pact to encourage businesses worldwide to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies, and to report on their implementation.

“We are looking forward to contributing to this network and to drawing on the expertise and experiences from the first 20 years of its existence,” says Ettestøl.

UN Global Compact lists ten principles for responsible business policies for human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. Arendals Fossekompani already reports on these principles in the annual Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility Report.

“We have also identified several of the UN Sustainable Development Goals that are particularly relevant to the majority of our companies, and where we can most clearly make a difference,” says Ettestøl.

An acceptance letter from UN Global Compact reads: “We warmly welcome Arendals Fossekompani to a global network of over 9,500 companies and 3,000 non-business participants that are committed to building a sustainable future.”
